Book For Sale: Scattered Steeples Expanded 

The book, Scattered Steeples, done some twenty years ago, has long been out of print.  By popular demand, a new edition has been published, but not a reprint.  Rather, as its title, Scattered Steeples Expanded, suggests, it’s the same but decidedly different.  New chapters were added and less relevant portions were discarded.  In many ways it surpasses the worth of the original buy giving a more complete glimpse of the church through its many decades of life in North Dakota. 

It is not a history in the classic sense; rather it is a light and sometimes scholarly collection of stories about the people and the events that make up history.  It is a panoramic view of the church from sod-house Masses to the grand liturgies of the Cathedral-like city churches.  Many different authors, academics, professional writers, and enthusiastic storytellers let you know about things you did not know.  Life in the church has not always been neat and orderly.  Here are stories about tornadoes, dustbowls, and wars.  There is also the human dimension with headstrong nuns, irascible priests, and demanding lay leaders.  Contained therein are plenty of saintly folks, courageous innovators, contemplatives, and quiet heroes.  You will find fascinating stories about:
